Flashing Guide: Nokia BB5 Handsets
Description
This process is a software update via firmware flash and applies to all Nokia BB5 models.
Drivers
Be sure that you have the Nokia USB flash drivers fully installed before proceeding.
Client Software
Download and extract the latest version of the client software.
Note: It is important that your handset's battery is 100% charged before beginning the flash!
Instructions
1. Open client.exe and log in with your username and password.
2. With your SIM card intact and your battery fully charged, plug the USB cable into the phone while attached to the PC.
3. Choose"PC Suite" mode when prompted on the handset.
4. Following the client's identification of your phone a service menu will pop up. Select "Flash/Debrand/Rebrand" and press "Next".
5. Choose the desired firmware package. Uncheck the "Same Product Code" box to display additional compatible versions.
6. The client software will read all PM values from your handset (unique eprom settings) and store them safely online in the case of an error.
7. Following the storage of PM values the client will begin download necessary files.
8. Flashing will begin automatically following the successful downloads.
When the process completes the handset will reboot automatically. A factory reset will be performed, allowing the correct product code to be rewritten. That's it!
